Aluminum pergolas and covered patios for South Florida

A pool by itself isn't a backyard. You need shade - a spot to eat, read, and hang out without sitting in direct Florida sun. We design and install covered patio roofs and modern aluminum pergolas. Rust-proof, hurricane-rated where required, low-maintenance, and built to actually look good with your house.

The Cliff's Difference

Covered patio roofs

A covered roof turns your patio into a real outdoor room - lounge furniture, dining table, ceiling fans, TV, lighting, kitchen. Rain doesn't cancel the party and the afternoon sun doesn't run you back inside.

Pergolas

Pergolas add architecture and partial shade without closing the space in. Good for poolside seating, walkways, garden lounges, or over an outdoor kitchen. Traditional wood look, modern aluminum, freestanding, or attached - we do all of it.

Options May Include

  • Attached patio covers
  • Freestanding shade structures
  • Insulated roof panels
  • Aluminum roof systems
  • Traditional pergolas
  • Modern pergolas
  • Motorized louvered roofs (R-BLADE™)
  • Retractable sun shades & awnings
  • Shade sails and drop-down side shades
  • K-BANA™ modular cabanas
  • Aluminum carports (R-CAR™)
  • Integrated lighting
  • Ceiling fan preparation
  • Outdoor kitchen coverage
  • Patio and pool deck integration

Sun shades - retractable and fixed

Sometimes you don't need a full roof - you just need shade in the right spot. Retractable sun shades, motorized side awnings, and shade sails give you flexible coverage that opens up when you want a view and closes when the sun swings around. We install these standalone or as add-ons to a pergola or covered roof.

Why aluminum makes sense in Florida

Wood pergolas look great for a season, then Florida gets to work - rot, warp, fade, stain, restain. Modern aluminum pergolas skip all of that. They don't rust, they don't crack, they don't need annual sealing, and they can be hurricane-rated where the code calls for it. Cleaner lines, longer lifespan, less weekend labor.

Create a More Livable Backyard

Shade structures help extend the amount of time you can comfortably spend outside. They also create defined outdoor zones for eating, entertaining, reading, relaxing, and gathering with family and friends. For homeowners planning a larger backyard makeover, covered roofs and pergolas pair naturally with pavers, turf, outdoor kitchens, and pool remodeling.

Roofs & Pergolas - your questions answered

What's the difference between a pergola, a covered roof, and a screen enclosure?
A pergola gives you dappled shade with an open top - great for planters, string lights, and airflow. A covered roof (aluminum insulated panel) blocks 100% of rain and direct sun, turning your patio into a real outdoor room. A screen enclosure is a fully-caged bug-and-leaf barrier. Many clients combine two - a covered roof over the seating area plus a pergola over the pool deck.
How much does a motorized louvered pergola cost?
A motorized R-BLADE aluminum louvered pergola typically runs $18,000-$28,000 fully installed for a standard 14x14 - includes engineering, permit, footings, powder-coated frame, rotating louvers, and remote control. Add-ons: LED lighting, retractable side screens, wind sensors, integrated speakers.
Do covered patio roofs require a permit?
Yes - both Broward and Palm Beach require a permit for any attached or freestanding cover with an engineered foundation. We handle plans, engineering, and inspections on your behalf. Screen enclosures and true 3-season rooms may need HOA approval on top of the municipal permit.
How do these hold up in a hurricane?
Our aluminum and structural systems are Florida Product Approval-rated for our wind zones (typically 150-180 mph). Insulated roofs and louvered pergolas are engineered to your specific site and get sealed permits. We can also add hurricane straps and roll-down side screens rated for storm season.
Can you tie a covered roof into my existing house?
Yes, this is one of our most common builds. We fasten a ledger to the fascia or wall with hurricane hardware, flash it correctly so it doesn't leak, and match your existing roof pitch and gutter runs. Standard permit, engineered.
Do the louvers on a pergola actually keep rain out?
When closed, yes - the aluminum blades interlock and channel water to the perimeter gutters and downspouts. You can host dinner in a downpour and stay dry. When open, sun and airflow come through as normal.
What areas of South Florida do you serve?
We serve all of Broward and Palm Beach Counties - from Fort Lauderdale, Weston, Coral Springs, and Parkland up through Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Wellington, Jupiter, and everywhere in between. See our full service-area list on the Areas We Serve page.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We work with a handful of pool-friendly lenders and have monthly payment options for new construction, remodels, and outdoor rooms. Details and a quick pre-qualification form are on the Financing page.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes - Certified Pool Contractor CPC1460184 and Certified Building Contractor CBC1265425. General liability, workers' comp, and bonding are all in force. We can email current certificates before we start any project.
